Kazuo Takiguchi was born in 1953 in Kyoto, Japan, and graduated from the Royal College of Art (UK) in 1992. Based in Japan, he has exhibited in New York, Taiwan, Korea, and other countries. Major awards include the Runner-up Prize at the China-Japan International Ceramic Art Exhibition (1986), the Grand Prix at the Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition (1989), the Prize for Excellence in Crafts at the MOA Museum (1990), the Gotoh Memorial Tokyu Culture Award for New Artists (1991), the Ceramic Society of Japan Award (1991), and the Kyoto Prefecture Culture Award Encouragement Prize (1996).
