Born in Okayama, Yokoyama Naoki (b. 1970) has had an outstanding career for a relatively younger potter in the Bizen tradition. He studied under KAWABATA Fumio 川端文男 in the 1990s, before going on to establish his own Bizen kiln in 2000. The surface has a somewhat glossy surface on a deep ochre red where the clay has been touched by fire. The large streaks on this large Bizen jar shows off Bizen clay well, while adding a whimsical feel to the sizeable work.
