Suzuki Goro (b. 1941)'s wheel thrown water jar holds a soft and delicately refined white Shino glaze all over inside and out, leaving only the foot bare so that you may see the beauty of Mino clay. One may gaze upon the body of this water jar as though it holds a scrolling image, where Goro-san sparsely draws grass, weeds, mountains and trees in the distance.
This is a quintessential Mino style water jar with a classical Shino glaze. Suzuki Goro has skilfully emphasized the wheel mark, while showcasing a creamy, snow-white glaze covering the jar. The iron sketches underneath the Shino glaze spell Zen for the tea room.
