1898  Born in Kagoshima City

1924  Studied Japanese painting under Tamon Yamauchi

   and Western painting at Kawabata Painting School

1923  Studied ceramics under Miyagawa Kōzan

1927 Became a disciple of Hazan Itaya and participated in the founding of "Tōtōkai"

   (Eastern Ceramics Association)

1929  First selected for the 10th Imperial Art Exhibition with "Iron Sand Glaze Bamboo Ceramic Vase"

   Studied Indian philosophy under Yosaburō Okakura

1931  Won special prize at the 12th Imperial Art Exhibition for the wall lighting "Ginga" (Galaxy)

1933  Co-founded "Niigata Ceramic Garden" with Zōdō Sasaki

1946  Built a kiln at the foot of Mount Tsukuba

1977  Died at the age of 79
