Born in 1936, Suzuki Sansei is a potter based in Kanagawa who is known for his mastery over traditional celadon glazing techniques. He trained under Kawamura Seizan 河村蜻山 (1890-1967) at the Kamakura Kiln before going on to build his own kiln Kozu in Kanagawa prefecture. Kawamura’s influence on Suzuki’s work is palpable in their commitment to bringing traditional techniques to the modern ceramics connoisseur and their appreciation for subtle and muted aesthetic sensibilities. Popular among celadon connoisseurs and collectors, Suzuki’s style brings forth “grandeur in simplicity”.
