Kondo Yutaka was a celebrated ceramic artist born in 1932 in Kyoto, as the eldest son of the Living National Treasure Kondo Yuzo. Graduating from Kyoto City University of Arts, he studied under two living national treasures: his father and the eminent Tomimoto Kenkichi. During his life, he had many accolades and won several prizes. He served as a Professor at the Kyoto City University of the Arts, and was awarded the Shinshokai Exhibition Tomimoto prize, won prizes the Japan Ceramic Society and Japan Kogei Association to name a few.
